Have you ever scrolled through a streaming service unsure what to watch and when you’re about to give up and try a different service you see the perfect film? That’s what happened to me with Slaxx.  

Released on March 23, 2021, this film was featured on a list called “10 Upcoming Movies You Won’t Believe Actually Got Made.” It’s a horror film about a possessed pair of pants that goes on a murderous rampage during a store reset. It’s up to the newest employee Libby, played by Romane Denis, to attempt to stop the pants from killing her and her coworkers. 

I mostly watched this film just to see how the pants would kill people. Because…. they’re pants. They don’t have teeth or claws or the ability to wield machetes. The deaths are interesting. Only one of them makes any sense, but then again, we’re talking about a film where clothing kills people sooooo…. 

The message that the film is attempting to pound into the heads of the audience is an old one, but at least it’s consistent. I’m really sad that one character wasn’t killed. The owner of the company stops by before the pair of pants decides to wake up and start killing. I think it would’ve been better if the owner was present during the slaughter. It would’ve given the pants some sort of closure. Not saying that would end the slaughter because it probably wouldn’t, but at least I’d get to watch that annoying dude die.  

There’s one scene that becomes a recurring gag? Not a gag? I’m not sure exactly what the filmmakers were trying to do by having this element in the film. It’s so absurd that it’s funny, but I’m not sure the filmmakers were trying to make it comical. 

Overall, it’s not a bad film despite the actual absurd plot of the story. There’s plenty of death, blood, and violence to satiate the most stalwart horror fan.
